Our role was to devise support and restraint strategies for the priceless artefacts including a 1.5 tonne sarcophagus; the Westminster Retable, believed to be the altarpiece for Henry III’s Abbey; several funeral effigies; a collection of medieval stained glass; and the Duchess of Richmond’s parrot, the oldest stuffed parrot in the world, the support for which required detailed dynamic analysis to understand the risk of footfall induced excitation.
